Advising

Graduate Advising -

If you are a current or prospective graduate student seeking professional advice and we have not met, please send me an introductory email with your name, areas of interest, and a brief description of your research project.

If you are in need of a letter of recommendation, please provide me with a link to the application in question at least two weeks in advance of my due date.

Undergraduate Advising -

If you are currently an NU undergrad seeking advising on a research project and you have not taken a class of mine, please send me a brief introductory email outlining your research interests and plan for completion. Please also follow the link for the sign-up sheet for my office hours so that we can discuss your research in person.

If you seek a letter of recommendation, please provide me with (1) a piece of writing of which you are particularly proud and which you think showcases your skill and depth of thought, (2) a detailed description of the program to which you are applying, (3) a paragraph description of why you want to enter that program and, more importantly, what you think makes you a good candidate, and (4) a due date. Please give me at least 2 weeks to complete your request.

I am only able to write letters of recommendation for students who have taken either a 100 or 300 level seminar with me, or for students who have conducted individual research under my guidance.
